“The beauty of what we do is that we share a common purpose, we share a common passion, and we share a journey”. As we enter the final days of 2022, I want to share with you some perspectives on where we stand in our journey, why what we do is so important, and what lies ahead for us in 2023.
We set out on our journey with clear priorities in place, we built a new growth mindset which we call Beyond OP, and we put much more focus on execution excellence. Although the fundamentals are in place, our environment has never been more dynamic.
“Results Never Lie”, as Peter Guenter, CEO of the Healthcare Business of Merck, remarked to us during the Town Hall in Dubai (watch the highlights video). As a result of your efforts, 2022 has been a landmark year for MEAR:
In 2022, we achieved the highest growth ever, even exceeding our record growth in 2021! While steadily expanding our market leadership across all therapeutic areas, we strengthened our new products like MAVENCLAD and BAVENCIO.
We are building the capabilities that will help us succeed today and in the future. An example is how we are augmenting our face-to-face interactions with digital channels and how we are strengthening our Market Access and Medical Affairs capabilities across key markets.
We are transforming our culture and organizations to be more customer focused, agile, and driven by having an impact, every day.
Because of your efforts, individually and collectively, we are making tremendous progress on our journey of building MEAR into one of the most important contributors to Merck's growth. And nothing is more motivating than to start seeing the results of our work! I thank you all for that.
Our region offers numerous opportunities to make a positive impact on patients, our teams, and our business. This opportunity to impact is what makes our journey worthwhile. We can and will accomplish a lot in the upcoming year, and I'm excited to share more about our plans for 2023 when we meet in January.
